Biography

Mandolin Sisters Sreeusha SireeshaFar away from the streams of formal and professional Carnatic music, like lilies in the pond, two siblings, Sreeusha and Sireesha developed and unearthed their skills on the mandolin. Thanks to their foresighted parents, these two sisters were encouraged and honed their talents on the mandolin. Today they are competent performers on the stage winning praise from one and all.

Their early carrier began when they were mere infants. From the age of 5, they were in the habit of listening and watching their amateur father pluck the strings of guitar to the western music. Observing their enthusiasm for the sounds emanating from the guitar, their father allowed them to pluck the strings of the guitar. The sisters took the music like ducks to the water. Later Mr. Threemurthulu, their father wanted them to take up Carnatic mandolin.

The rest is history. Guided first by their father and their earliest guru Mr. Rudraraju Subbaraju, the infant sisters learnt and practiced their art. At present they are undergoing tutelage from Kalaimamani Ms.A Kanyakumari and Vidwan Sri Sengalipuram S.V.Ramamurthy Iyer (a disciple of Mudikondan Sri Veankatarama Iyer).

What is extraordinary is all their gurus are not players of the mandolin. The sisters are largely self taught and have learnt to play the mandolin themselves and harmonizing it to Carnatic music with help of their teachers. This by itself is a tremendous feat.

Mandolin Sisters Sreeusha SireeshaSacrificing all modern interests and activities, Sreeusha and Sireesha sisters have now dedicated themselves to Carnatic music. It is their only food, thought and livelihood. They have also completed their degree in public administration through correspondence mode. Their only ambition is to imbibe all they can in Carnatic music and channelize it through mandolin, although they perform in private parties and on the invitation by leading sabhas.

They have little time for pastimes that other children of their age have, though they sometimes watch television or play badminton in their backyard with friends. Their thoughts and favourite conversation always centers around music

Now they have won plaudits from discerning connoisseurs of Carnatic music on their gift for playing mandolin very competently.

We can look forward to these mandolin sisters to excel in their chosen field and captivate audiences universally in the future.
